Wiles Mensch Corporation – DC (WM) provided survey, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services for the redevelopment of an 8-acre site that includes six buildings and connected plazas, with underground parking for approximately 500 spaces. The site was previously used as a 900-space surface parking lot.
The East Campus was designed to accommodate 750+ students in contemporary designed residential halls, exhibition space, recreational + activity spaces, and classrooms. The Admissions Welcome Center, Alumni Center, and administrative offices are also featured. The East Campus development incorporates retail and other program support space on the ground level along Nebraska Avenue, NW.
WM provided boundary, topographic, and utility surveys for the project, as well as an as-built utility survey. The team also provided full civil engineering services for the site. The landscape components include multiple courtyards, both at grade and over structure, which were designed to serve as gathering spaces for the expanded campus. A variety of materials and patterns were utilized to help the site blend into the overall campus aesthetic, while complementing the modern architecture of the building. Native plants were implemented to provide a landscape that is both attractive and low-maintenance.
The project achieved LEED Gold certification.
