Wiles Mensch Corporation – DC (WM) provided surveying, civil engineering, landscape architecture, and dry utility engineering services for the redevelopment of the 10,000 SF replacement facility for the DC Fire + Emergency Medical Services (DC FEMS) Engine Company #27 and a 16,500 SF Fleet Ready Reserve Facility on the same site.

The WM Survey team provided a full range of boundary, topographic, and utility surveys as a basis for the design team. Civil scope of work included schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. WM obtained all necessary technical approvals from DC Water, DOEE, and DDOT, and coordinated with WMATA for the Joint Development and Adjacent Construction program (JDAC).

WM coordinated PEPCO temporary service for the site, providing calculation of the electrical service size, coordination with PEPCO to obtain a design and cost for the service, and design review.

Landscape services included preparation of the appropriate documentation and plans for on-site Green Area Ratio (GAR) compliance, through the use of green roof and permeable pavement. GAR calculations included provision of a landscape maintenance plan.

The facility was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
