Wiles Mensch Corporation – DC (WM) provided surveying, civil engineering, landscape architecture, and dry utility engineering services for additions and interior renovations to Friendship Public Charter Schools’ Southeast Academy. Renovations served to provide an addition for the building, modify the existing play area, and develop a new entrance to the site.
WM provided boundary, topographic, and utility surveys as a basis for the design team planning a new entrance and play area for the school. The survey area included an alley adjoining the two school sites. Civil scope included all coordination with DDOT for approvals, including PDRM and PSCH. Stormwater management included implementation of bioretention in medians adjacent to the property line. Green roof design was also provided by the team’s landscape architecture division.
Dry utility services included coordination with PEPCO for relocation of existing aerial power lines along the west edge of the site. Temporary PEPCO service was also provided.
The project is expected to achieve LEED Silver certification at minimum.
