Wiles Mensch Corporation – DC (WM) provided land surveying and civil engineering services to transform the former Kenilworth Elementary School located at 1300 44th Street NE into a state-of-the-art recreation center. The 31,000 SF project includes a competition-sized gymnasium, outdoor pool and pool house, senior center, tech lounge, and various fitness spaces.

WM was responsible for performing site and building stakeout, as-built, and wall check surveys for the project and oversaw DC Surveyor’s office research and the compilation and final boundary resolution. WM provided full civil engineering design services including erosion and sediment control plans, site grading, utility design, and stormwater management design. Stormwater management was provided with green roof and bio-retention facilities. The design-build project was subject to reviews from DCRA, DDOE, DDOT, and CFA.

The project achieved LEED Gold certification.
