Wiles Mensch Corporation – DC (WM) provided survey and civil engineering services for the design and development of the property located at the 7.6 acre site of the former Hamilton School. The project served to deliver a new 126,500 SF multi-story school facility.
WM completed an ALTA/NSPS survey, and provided subdivision services and project stakeout. WM’s civil services included utility design, erosion and sediment control, traffic control plans, site and grading design, and public space permitting. WM also provided raze permit documents including an existing conditions plan, sedimentation and erosion control Plan, and sedimentation and erosion control details in support of the design of an adjacent athletic field for the school.
The site was designed to maximize usability but also provide required stormwater management treatment. A NCAA competition level athletic field was designed with a stormwater infiltration system below, and a large cascading bio-retention pond was designed with both form and function in mind to meet stormwater requirements and produce a dynamic aesthetic during rainfall events. A 70-car parking lot was designed with careful attention to layout and grading to minimize the need for retaining walls on the steeply sloped site.
The project was designed to achieve LEED certification.
