Wiles Mensch Corporation – DC (WM) provided surveying and civil engineering services for the redevelopment of Park Morton, an existing 174- unit, 12-building, garden style public housing project. The new mixed-use, mixed-income development was designed to include a 126-unit multifamily building, as well as 57 townhomes and stacked flats. An open lawn, rain gardens, a pavilion and playground are also included for the project.

WM completed a boundary, topographic and utility survey to assess and document existing conditions, as well as an ALTA for financing purposes. The survey team also created supporting exhibits for requested alley closings.

WM’s civil engineering scope included site design, stormwater management, utilities, grading and sediment + erosion control. WM also prepared a Planned Unit Development (PUD) that received approval from the Office of Zoning. Dry utilities services were provided to address disconnection and removal of existing utility services, site assessment and conceptual planning, and design coordination for dry utilities with PEPCO, Washington Gas, and telecommunications providers.

The project is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification.
