Wiles Mensch Corporation – DC (WM) provided services for upgrades to the athletic facilities on the University of the District of Columbia’s Van Ness campus. WM was responsible for managing survey, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services for the pursuit.
WM is responsible for the re-design of two synthetic turf fields, including landscaping and perimeter security. The survey team provided boundary, topographic, and utility surveys of the existing field areas as a basis for the design team.
The survey includes areas of the site being used by District of Columbia Public Schools as a swing space for Murch Elementary School. The WM civil team is responsible for managing stormwater management, sediment control, subsoil drainage, and water and sewer connections on the site, as well as technical approvals with DOEE and DC Water. Landscape architecture services included project management, layout, grading, paving, ADA, plantings, GAR, EIS, and fencing, as well as approvals from DOEE and Urban Forestry.
Project completion required coordination with the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) and the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA).
