Wiles Mensch Corporation – DC (WM) provided civil planning and design services for the redevelopment of Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Reuse incorporated 67.5 acres of the 113- acre property, including 27 buildings of varying historical significance. The design team was tasked to design adaptive reuse and infill development for this military site to be transformed into a mixed-use neighborhood.

Civil engineering master planning services included existing conditions evaluation, reuse alternatives, management support and outreach, and development of the Final Reuse Plan. WM was also commissioned in the production of utilities and stormwater management plans for the final document provided to the District containing Re-Use Plan findings and recommendations.

WM also assisted the master planning team in the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive public outreach strategy that would maximize public participation in this multi stakeholder planning process. Future use of the site by multiple parties require new utility infrastructure or shared utility agreements between those stakeholders.

WM key staff analyzed all utility systems, previous surveys, and record information from DC WASA to fully inform the final Master Plan.
